Siding Replacement in Roseville, MI

New Siding for Roseville Homes, Garages Included

Roseville has been a community since William Rose opened a post office here in 1840 and named it after his father. It incorporated as a village in 1926 and as a city in 1958, grew quickly after World War II to a peak of 60,529 residents around 1970, and had 47,710 residents in the 2020 census. With Gratiot, I-94 and I-696 running through, and Macomb Mall still open since 1964, it is a city of established neighborhoods where many houses have stood for decades.

If your home has reached the point where the siding is dented, faded, cracked or coming loose, this page is for you. It is also for the building a lot of siding quotes forget: the detached garage out back. Rock Solid Exteriors is based in neighboring Clinton Township, a short drive up Gratiot.

Getting the Most Out of a Siding Budget

Siding is one of the most visible improvements you can make, and it does not have to be the most expensive. Here is how we help homeowners spend where it counts:

  • Put quality where it shows. A better panel and nicer trim on the front elevation, with a solid standard product on the less visible sides, can stretch a budget without looking mismatched if colors and profiles are chosen together.
  • Fix the wall once. Covering rotted sheathing saves money now and costs more later. We point out real damage and price the repair separately so you can see it.
  • Combine trades. Doing siding, soffit, fascia and gutters together avoids paying for separate setups.
  • Use financing if it helps. Financing is available on approved credit, and veterans receive a 10 percent discount.

Don’t Forget the Garage

A detached garage with peeling paint or battered aluminum next to a freshly sided house makes both look worse. Matching them is often easier than people expect, and a garage is a relatively quick job. One customer wrote:

Rock Solid Exteriors just completed my garage siding. … They finished my garage in just two days. I love my new side door installed that replaced an old window.

Eunice A., Google review

When we side a garage, we check the bottom plate and lower wall first. Garage walls sit close to the ground, take splashback and road salt from the driveway, and can develop rot along the bottom edge. We also wrap or replace trim around the overhead door, which takes a beating.

Another homeowner had her house and garage done together:

Owner worked with me on siding options, started job early, and completed 2000 sq foot house and detached garage in one week… absolutely beautiful.

Siding Materials We Install

Vinyl siding

For many Roseville homes, vinyl siding offers the best value: a wide range of colors, no painting, and simple cleaning. We are a Mastic Preferred contractor and also install CertainTeed products. Vinyl has to be installed loosely enough to expand and contract with temperature, and we fasten it that way so it does not buckle in summer.

James Hardie fiber cement

James Hardie fiber cement costs more than vinyl, but it gives a heavier, painted-wood look and resists impact well. Its HZ5 products are designed for climates with freezing temperatures, snow and ice. We are a James Hardie Select Contractor.

Aluminum and metal

If you have aluminum siding in good condition and just need repairs or trim work, we will tell you. Matching old aluminum can be difficult, though, and aluminum siding or custom metal may make sense for specific projects.

Shake and stone accents

A shake-look gable or a band of Versetta Stone along the front of a ranch is an affordable way to add character without changing the whole house.

Brick Ranches and Partial Siding

If your home is mostly brick, siding may only cover gables, a rear addition, a dormer or the area around the garage door. Those small areas still need proper flashing where they meet brick and roof. Partial jobs are a good fit for shake or board-and-batten accents that make the brick look intentional rather than dated.

Trim, Soffit and Fascia

Wood trim around windows, doors and the roofline is often the first thing to fail on an older home. We wrap sound trim in aluminum coil or replace rotted wood before wrapping. New soffit panels close gaps where birds and pests get in, and vented soffit helps the attic breathe. Adding seamless gutters at the same time keeps water off the new siding.

Choosing Colors on a Street of Similar Homes

In neighborhoods where many houses share a similar size and shape, color does most of the work of setting yours apart. A few tips: look at your roof color first, since it is the one exterior element you are least likely to change soon. Pick trim and soffit colors at the same time as the siding, not afterward. And look at physical samples outside, at different times of day, because siding colors can look very different in daylight than they do on a screen or under indoor lights.

Older Homes and Lead-Safe Work

If your home was built before 1978, EPA rules require contractors who disturb painted surfaces to follow lead-safe work practices. Siding and trim removal often disturbs old paint, so we plan containment and cleanup accordingly.

Roseville Siding Questions

Can you side just my detached garage?

Yes. Garage siding is a smaller project, and matching it to your house makes both look better. We check the lower walls for rot first.

How can I keep siding costs down?

Choose a solid vinyl product, combine siding with soffit, fascia and gutters, and put upgrades like thicker panels or accents where they are most visible.

My house is mostly brick. Do I still need siding?

Possibly only on gables, additions or around the garage. Those areas can also be a good place for shake or board-and-batten accents.

Should I repair my aluminum siding or replace it?

If it is in good shape, repairs or trim work may be enough. Old aluminum is hard to match, so replacement often makes more sense for larger damage.

We had a great experience with Rock Solid Exteriors and would absolutely recommend them. Our home was not an easy siding project, but their team did a fantastic job from beginning to end. One thing that really stood out to us was their communication. Before signing a contract, we spent several weeks pricing our project with multiple companies. During that time, Levi stayed in touch without ever making us feel pressured. He gave us space when we needed it, but continued to follow up and remind us that he was there and ready when we were. He was professional, patient, and really took the time to understand the vision we had for our home. That communication continued once the project began. Joe, our onsite project manager, stayed in consistent contact with my husband, providing updates on the progress of the project and managing expectations along the way. Jeff was also there whenever a hiccup arose and helped make sure things were addressed and kept moving forward. We were equally impressed with the crew. They kept the job site clean and were always respectful while working at our home. Even the little things stood out to us—there was no foul language or inappropriate conversation on the job site, which we really appreciated having a family and young children at home. And, of course, the craftsmanship was top-notch. Our house was a difficult project with a lot of details, and the finished exterior looks fantastic. But what impressed us just as much as the quality of their work was the level of communication throughout the entire process. From our first conversations with Levi, through the project management from Joe and support from Jeff, we always felt like we knew what was happening and who we could reach if we had a question. We’re extremely happy with the transformation of our home and grateful to the entire Rock Solid Exteriors team for their hard work. We would absolutely recommend them!

Rock's crews rocked. They took a problem job, fixed rotten timbers/fascias, redecked the whole house, cleaned-up and followed-up professionally. Extremely satisfactory and for a reasonable price! And I am certified construction inspector, so I know!

Everything went great from start to finish. Levi was very thorough in presenting our options and helping us find the right roof. The communication was excellent at every step, we knew exactly what to expect and when. And the crew did an awesome job installing and cleaning up after.
