Window Replacement in Clinton Township, MI

Window Replacement From a Company That Lives Here

Rock Solid Exteriors is headquartered at 42452 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. When you call us about windows, the estimator, the office staff and the installers are coming from inside the township, not from across the metro area. That makes a real difference on window projects, which involve a measuring visit, a wait for custom-built windows, an installation day and sometimes a follow-up adjustment. Every one of those trips is short for us.

Clinton Township is a big place to be local to. With 100,513 residents in the 2020 census, it is the most populous township in Michigan. The Clinton River starts from three branches inside the township and runs east toward Lake St. Clair, and the township takes in long-established areas such as Cady and Broad Acres along with newer subdivisions and condominium communities. Windows in homes of different ages fail in different ways.

How to Tell Your Windows Are Done

Not every window problem means replacement. Before you get quotes, it helps to know what you are looking at:

  • Fog or moisture between the panes. That means the seal on an insulated glass unit has failed and the gas fill is gone. It does not get better.
  • Condensation on the inside of the glass in winter. This is often about indoor humidity rather than the window itself, although cold glass on older windows makes it worse. We will tell you which one you are dealing with.
  • Sashes that will not stay up, lock, or slide. Worn balances and warped vinyl or aluminum frames are common on older units.
  • Drafts you can feel with your hand along the sash or around the trim.
  • Soft or stained wood on sills and interior trim, a sign water has been getting in.
  • Rattling and street noise. Loose, single-pane or early double-pane windows let a lot of sound through, which you notice on busier roads like Hall Road, Gratiot or Garfield.

The Two Ways We Install Replacement Windows

Insert installation

For most homes with frames that are still solid, we use insert windows. We remove the old sashes and hardware, leave the existing frame and trim in place, and fit a custom-sized window inside it. The interior walls, drywall returns and exterior brick are not disturbed, and a typical house can be done quickly.

Full-frame installation

When a frame is rotted, badly out of square, or has been leaking into the wall, an insert only hides the problem. Full-frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening so we can repair framing, flash the opening and insulate around the new window. It is more work and costs more, and we only recommend it where the opening needs it.

For homes built before 1978, removing old windows can disturb lead paint on sills and trim. EPA rules require lead-safe work practices in those homes, and we set up for that before any window comes out.

Window Styles We Install in Clinton Township

We install vinyl replacement windows from MI Windows and Doors, which builds double-hung, single-hung, casement, awning, horizontal slider, picture and specialty shapes including bay and bow windows. We also install ProVia windows, so you can compare options from both manufacturers at the estimate.

Double-hung

The default choice for most bedrooms and front elevations. Both sashes open and tilt in, which makes second-floor windows easy to clean from inside.

Casement

Casements crank outward on a hinge. They are easy to open over a kitchen sink, and when closed the sash presses against the weatherstripping for a tight seal.

Slider

A horizontal slider is simple and durable, and it fits wide openings in ranch homes, condos and basements where a double-hung would look out of proportion.

Bay and bow

Bay and bow windows project out from the wall and bring in light from several angles. They are a common upgrade for a living room picture window, and they add a small amount of usable space at the sill.

Picture and awning

Picture windows are fixed and do not open, which keeps them tight. Awning windows hinge at the top, so they can stay cracked open for ventilation during light rain.

Energy Efficiency That Makes Sense in Macomb County

Winter heating is where windows earn their keep here. When comparing quotes, find the NFRC label and look at the U-factor, which measures heat loss; lower is better. Michigan is in ENERGY STAR’s Northern climate zone, and under Version 7.0 the maximum U-factor for windows in that zone is 0.22. Low-E coatings and insulated, gas-filled glass are how modern windows reach those numbers, and triple-pane glass is worth asking about if you want to go further.

A great window installed poorly still leaks. The gap between the window and the opening has to be insulated and sealed, and the exterior has to be capped and caulked so water sheds away. That part of the job is invisible once the trim is on, so ask every contractor how they handle it.

Condos and Associations

If you live in a Clinton Township condominium, check your association documents before ordering windows. Many associations control exterior color, grid patterns or window style so that buildings match. Bring whatever rules you have to the estimate and we will quote windows that comply.

A Local Crew You Can Actually Reach

Being nearby matters after the install, too. If a sash needs adjusting or a screen does not seat right, we are minutes away. One customer wrote about her installers:

I had 6 windows done with Rock Solid Exterior. OMG the installers Joe And Zach was great!!! They even showed me how my windows work

Clinton Township Window Questions

Where is Rock Solid Exteriors located?

Our office is at 42452 Hayes Road in Clinton Township, so estimates, installations and any follow-up visits are a short trip for our team.

Will you replace just one or two windows?

Yes. Because we are based in Clinton Township, smaller window jobs are practical for us here. Call and tell us what you need.

Should I get insert or full-frame windows?

If your frames are solid, square and dry, insert windows usually work well and cost less. If frames are rotted or leaking, full-frame replacement is the better fix. We check every opening.

Can new windows match my condo association’s rules?

Usually, yes. Bring your association’s requirements for color, style or grids to the estimate and we will quote windows that meet them.

We signed a contract with Rock Solid Exterior to replace our siding that blew off in a storm. The previous siding was fairly new, but the previous homeowner hired a “friend” to install it, and it was not properly installed. Rock took the house down to studs, installed OSB, vapor barrier and Royal Celect cellular PVC siding, and it turned out exceptional! I have to admit that I went into the project with some anxiety based on mixed reviews online, but our crew leader Joe was fantastic, and his team worked like a well-oiled machine. They had a high attention to detail, and tolerated my requests for cosmetic perfection, even redoing work they rightly could have said was functionally good. We screwed up and had them do the siding first and then decided we wanted the facia and soffit replaced too, which also caused rework that wasn’t their fault. Through it all, they were pleasant and professional. I know I have high standards and might be unreasonable to do construction projects for, but these guys really delivered. Areas of opportunity – I did have to chase the scheduler more than I wanted to, but when they came, they were in full force!

We had a great experience with Rock Solid Exteriors and would absolutely recommend them. Our home was not an easy siding project, but their team did a fantastic job from beginning to end. One thing that really stood out to us was their communication. Before signing a contract, we spent several weeks pricing our project with multiple companies. During that time, Levi stayed in touch without ever making us feel pressured. He gave us space when we needed it, but continued to follow up and remind us that he was there and ready when we were. He was professional, patient, and really took the time to understand the vision we had for our home. That communication continued once the project began. Joe, our onsite project manager, stayed in consistent contact with my husband, providing updates on the progress of the project and managing expectations along the way. Jeff was also there whenever a hiccup arose and helped make sure things were addressed and kept moving forward. We were equally impressed with the crew. They kept the job site clean and were always respectful while working at our home. Even the little things stood out to us—there was no foul language or inappropriate conversation on the job site, which we really appreciated having a family and young children at home. And, of course, the craftsmanship was top-notch. Our house was a difficult project with a lot of details, and the finished exterior looks fantastic. But what impressed us just as much as the quality of their work was the level of communication throughout the entire process. From our first conversations with Levi, through the project management from Joe and support from Jeff, we always felt like we knew what was happening and who we could reach if we had a question. We’re extremely happy with the transformation of our home and grateful to the entire Rock Solid Exteriors team for their hard work. We would absolutely recommend them!
