We signed a contract with Rock Solid Exterior to replace our siding that blew off in a storm. The previous siding was fairly new, but the previous homeowner hired a “friend” to install it, and it was not properly installed. Rock took the house down to studs, installed OSB, vapor barrier and Royal Celect cellular PVC siding, and it turned out exceptional! I have to admit that I went into the project with some anxiety based on mixed reviews online, but our crew leader Joe was fantastic, and his team worked like a well-oiled machine. They had a high attention to detail, and tolerated my requests for cosmetic perfection, even redoing work they rightly could have said was functionally good. We screwed up and had them do the siding first and then decided we wanted the facia and soffit replaced too, which also caused rework that wasn’t their fault. Through it all, they were pleasant and professional. I know I have high standards and might be unreasonable to do construction projects for, but these guys really delivered. Areas of opportunity – I did have to chase the scheduler more than I wanted to, but when they came, they were in full force!

We had a great experience with Rock Solid Exteriors and would absolutely recommend them. Our home was not an easy siding project, but their team did a fantastic job from beginning to end. One thing that really stood out to us was their communication. Before signing a contract, we spent several weeks pricing our project with multiple companies. During that time, Levi stayed in touch without ever making us feel pressured. He gave us space when we needed it, but continued to follow up and remind us that he was there and ready when we were. He was professional, patient, and really took the time to understand the vision we had for our home. That communication continued once the project began. Joe, our onsite project manager, stayed in consistent contact with my husband, providing updates on the progress of the project and managing expectations along the way. Jeff was also there whenever a hiccup arose and helped make sure things were addressed and kept moving forward. We were equally impressed with the crew. They kept the job site clean and were always respectful while working at our home. Even the little things stood out to us—there was no foul language or inappropriate conversation on the job site, which we really appreciated having a family and young children at home. And, of course, the craftsmanship was top-notch. Our house was a difficult project with a lot of details, and the finished exterior looks fantastic. But what impressed us just as much as the quality of their work was the level of communication throughout the entire process. From our first conversations with Levi, through the project management from Joe and support from Jeff, we always felt like we knew what was happening and who we could reach if we had a question. We’re extremely happy with the transformation of our home and grateful to the entire Rock Solid Exteriors team for their hard work. We would absolutely recommend them!

Rochester Hills Roofs and What They Need

Wooded lots and shaded slopes

Rochester Hills has a lot of mature trees and wooded lots, and shade is hard on a roof. North-facing slopes under tree cover stay damp, grow moss and algae and shed granules faster than the sunny side of the same house. Overhanging limbs drop debris into the valleys and gutters where it holds water against the shingles instead of letting it drain.

Steep gables on the newer subdivisions

Much of the city went up through the 1970s, 80s and 90s, and a lot of those homes have steep, complex gables with several valleys. They shed snow well, but they funnel it into the valleys and they are slower and harder to work on safely. Warm air collects in an under-vented attic, melts the snow above it, and the water refreezes at the cold overhang as an ice dam that pushes water back up under the shingles.
