Very helpful, informative and a pleasure to work with. They replaced a piece of siding that was torn off when a tree fell.

Rock Solid was great to work with. Planning our siding replacement with Levi went great and turned out awesome. They allowed us to decide how we wanted the house to look when they were done and went through our options with price points so we could decide what we wanted to spend. There were some challenges with our house that I suspected ahead of time, rock solids crew notified us of the issues and let decide how we wanted to proceed. The crew was very professional and worked with us to make sure it was correct when it was done. We did have a small issue with our door replacement but they made sure it was corrected. I highly recommend Rock Solid Exteriors, almost every job is going to run into issues, the important part is how they handle them, and Rock Solid made sure they did everything they promised and then some.

We signed a contract with Rock Solid Exterior to replace our siding that blew off in a storm. The previous siding was fairly new, but the previous homeowner hired a “friend” to install it, and it was not properly installed. Rock took the house down to studs, installed OSB, vapor barrier and Royal Celect cellular PVC siding, and it turned out exceptional! I have to admit that I went into the project with some anxiety based on mixed reviews online, but our crew leader Joe was fantastic, and his team worked like a well-oiled machine. They had a high attention to detail, and tolerated my requests for cosmetic perfection, even redoing work they rightly could have said was functionally good. We screwed up and had them do the siding first and then decided we wanted the facia and soffit replaced too, which also caused rework that wasn’t their fault. Through it all, they were pleasant and professional. I know I have high standards and might be unreasonable to do construction projects for, but these guys really delivered. Areas of opportunity – I did have to chase the scheduler more than I wanted to, but when they came, they were in full force!

Choosing Siding for an Older Mount Clemens Home

We don’t push one material on every house. What we recommend depends heavily on the home’s age and how much of its original character is worth preserving.

Fiber cement is our most common recommendation for Mount Clemens’ Colonial Revivals and bungalows. It replicates the narrow-lap wood clapboard look these homes were originally built with, holds paint and color well, and stands up to Michigan’s freeze-thaw cycles far better than the original wood ever did — without the upkeep.

Vinyl siding makes the most sense on the city’s ranch homes or anywhere budget and low maintenance matter more than replicating original trim detail. It’s come a long way in profile and color options and handles Michigan winters reliably.

Stone veneer accents show up well on the brick-and-siding combination exteriors common around Mount Clemens’ Colonial-style homes — usually as a porch surround or foundation wrap rather than full coverage.

Mount Clemens Homes and Their Siding

An older housing stock

Mount Clemens has some of the oldest housing in Macomb County, and a lot of it has been resided at least once already. That matters, because what is underneath the current siding is often the real story: older sheathing, patched weather barrier, and repairs from a previous job that were never meant to last.

Aluminum siding from the 1960s and 70s

Plenty of homes here still wear their original aluminum. It dents rather than cracks, it chalks as the finish oxidizes, and matching a damaged panel on a sixty-year-old wall is genuinely difficult. We will tell you honestly whether a repair is worth doing or whether the wall has reached the end. There is more on our aluminum siding page.

What we find behind the old siding

We take the old siding off rather than covering over it, so we can see the sheathing and install a proper weather barrier. If we find rot, we show you before it gets covered back up. That is the part of a siding job you never see and the part that decides how long it lasts.

The roof edge matters too

Siding, soffit, fascia and gutters all meet at the same edge of the house. Replacing siding and leaving damaged trim behind is how a good job starts leaking two winters later, so we price the whole edge and let you decide what is worth doing at once.

Mount Clemens Siding FAQs

Can you match my existing siding?

We match as closely as the available profiles and colors allow, and we show you the match at the house first. On older aluminum an exact match often does not exist any more, and we will say so rather than surprise you on installation day.

Do you repair siding, or only replace it?

Both. If the wall underneath is sound and the panels are not brittle, a repair is usually the sensible money. See our siding repair page.

Do you pull the permits?

Yes. We pull the permits your city requires as part of the job.

Do you offer financing?

We offer 0% financing for 60 months on approved credit.
