Standard Concrete Driveways and Slabs
Not every project needs a decorative finish. This gallery shows standard, broom-finished concrete, mostly driveway replacements and new driveways, plus slab work. Several photos are collages that show the same finished driveway from different angles, from the street up to the garage door.
Plain concrete is only as good as what is under it and how it is jointed. When you look at these driveways, notice the straight control joints cut across the slab. Concrete shrinks as it cures, and those joints tell it where to crack, so any cracks stay hidden inside a straight line instead of wandering across the driveway. The broom texture gives tires and boots grip in wet and icy weather.
Standard concrete is the most cost-effective choice for driveways, garage pads and utility slabs. If you want a little more character, a decorative border or apron can be added to a broom-finish driveway.
